Google Tightens Review Application Process For New AdSense Publishers
In a bid to minimise abuse by publishers, Google has come up with a new rule to the Adsense game. Google recently added a new review step to the application process for adding new AdSense publishers to the Adsense network. I believe this was done to better eliminate abuses and improve the quality of the AdSense network for Google’s valuable advertisers. The new Adsense publisher application process should also translate to better earnings for publishers. In a blog post on Google’s official blog Max Cohen said “After a new application is submitted, we’ll begin with preliminary checks on the site and the applicant’s submitted details. If the application passes through this first stage, we’ll notify the applicant by email, grant them account access, and provide them with ad code to place on their submitted site. It’s essential at this stage for the applicant to place the ad code on their site, as the review process can’t be completed until the ad code is implemented.”
Placing the ad code on the applicant’s site is just the first step as the code will not display live ads immediately on the applicants site. Max Cohen further explained that the reason for this is because the application hasn’t been fully approved yet as a result temporary blank ads will be shown instead. The blank ads will blend in with the background of the page, so users won’t see them and the user experience won’t be impacted.
If an applicant logs into his AdSense account at this stage of the review process, he will see a reminder that the account is still under review. However, after the ad code has been added to the submitted site, Google will make a final approval decision and the applicant will be notified by email, at this point the newly approved publishers is expected to see live ads automatically appear in the existing ad units on their pages.
If you have an Adsense account presently treasure it and abstain from abusing the system, a time might come when you would really need to go through the eye of a needle to get an Adsense account approval. Whether the new Adsense publisher application process will discourage would be abusers of the Adsense network only time will tell.
