The news of the establishment of Peace Corps of Nigeria has been circulating in Nigeria for a while now. We posted it on this blog sometimes ago when the peace corps recruitment was on (read it here). Nigerian youths have been on the watchout ever since to when The President will sign the bill and make it a reality but its quite unfortunate that on 25th of February, 2018, The President, President Muhammadu Buhari sent his response to the senate where he declined the assent to bill for the establishment of the corps. The question many people are now asking now is that, does this mark an end to peace corps in Nigeria or should we still be expecting some kind of considerations from the government which will keep peace corps a relevant organiztion in our country?
